I believe consistency is the key to success and most entrepreneurs struggle with that. You’ve to hustle every day no matter what the situation is. Secondly, give your hundred percent every time you take initiative to complete any task.

Thank you so much for doing this with us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
Dinesh Lakhwani: It started in January 2016 when I was working for a startup leading their sales & marketing team. Due to some internal changes, they’ve decided to focus on digital marketing instead of direct marketing. As I was always into the writing (hobby) they’ve assigned me with a new task of content marketing. Though I was new to professional writing, still, I picked a pace with proper learning & training. A few months later, I moved to a leading software development company working with their content marketing team. I was learning & applying different aspects of digital & content marketing, but the ‘entrepreneur’ in me was not satisfied. So I have decided to start something on my own. On October 4, 2017, I founded TechCommuters with a vision to make it one of the leading tech blogs providing the best of the information. Later, I also started providing content & digital marketing services to various clients around the world. The interesting thing is I was managing all this with my full-time corporate job for the first three years. In July 2020, I have decided to leave the corporate world and fully focus on TechCommuters. Can you tell us a story about the hard times that you faced when you first started your journey? Did you ever consider giving up?
Dinesh Lakhwani: I take it in a spiritual way to answer this question. I believe, dreams never come true, determination does. If you’re determined to attain your highest goals, you’ll find a plan. Initial cash crunch, lack of knowledge of how the industry works, lack of time (as I was doing a full-time job), and that missing professional circle that could help were few challenges I faced when I started and overcame successfully. To be true, I never thought of giving up!What are the most common mistakes you see entrepreneurs make and what would you suggest they do?
Dinesh Lakhwani: I believe consistency is the key to success and most entrepreneurs struggle with that. You’ve to hustle every day no matter what the situation is. Secondly, give your hundred percent every time you take initiative to complete any task.
Has the pandemic and transitioning into mostly online shopping affected your company positively or negatively?
Dinesh Lakhwani: Well, it’s been a tough time for businesses overall. Things have changed when it comes to communication methods, shopping, banking, and whatnot. The majority of people have tried online payments for the first time during the pandemic. We have also seen a surge in online transactions on our website. So, overall it’s been positive!
When you think of your company, 5 years from now, what do you see?
Dinesh Lakhwani: We’re in the process of raising funds for our business. We’re planning to hire a talent pool to help us make TechCommuters one of the best companies to work with. We want to make TechCommuters one of the leading IT services providers in the coming few years. We’re working on a 2+2+1 years framework to achieve our goal. You are a successful business leader. Which three character traits do you think were most instrumental to your success?
Dinesh Lakhwani: I’d say you have to focus on these three things:- Perseverance.
- Focus on continuous learning & training.
- Focus on customer needs.
How important do you think it is for a leader to be mindful of his own brand?
Dinesh Lakhwani: Well, your brand imitates your values, mission, and highest goals in life. It is critical for long-term success if you’re serious about your business. How would you define “leadership”?
Dinesh Lakhwani: I believe leadership comes naturally to some people, but we also train leaders in universities. Before everything else, you’ve to be a good follower to become a good leader. Continuous learning & training is also instrumental in nurturing leadership qualities. What advice would you give to our younger readers that want to become entrepreneurs?
Dinesh Lakhwani: Take risks, you’ll gain or you’ll learn. Acquire skills before you get into something serious. Don’t shy away from training & learning. Make good professional contacts as they’ll help you in different ways. This interview was originally published ValiantCEO.
